In March 2024, Capital City Mission was awarded a Resilient Communities Fund grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, which funded the majority of a full-time Community Support Coordinator position over two years. This investment has been transformative, allowing us to strengthen and stabilize our Community Support Program into a core pillar of our work and expand our ability to serve the community in consistent, meaningful ways.

Thanks to this support, our Community Support Program has grown significantly, increasing access to advocacy, referrals, accompaniment, and wellness groups for more individuals than ever before. We’ve also been able to listen more closely to community needs through ongoing feedback, ensuring our programs continue to evolve. The role has strengthened volunteer engagement, supported the development of new training resources, and created opportunities for social work students through a partnership with Carleton University. Most importantly, it has deepened our relationships with community partners, building a more coordinated network of care that helps community members feel supported, empowered, and resilient.

Beyond practical support, the program has also fostered meaningful connections through wellness groups, where many participants have found a sense of belonging and emotional support—often describing these gatherings as a highlight of their week.

Speaking about the impact of the grant, Executive Director Keltie Davidson shared, “This role has laid the foundation for a more responsive and sustainable program, ensuring we can continue to grow alongside the needs of our community.”
